This hand-turned mortar & pestle set is made with 3 types of wood, Oak, Mahogany and Aspen. The base of the mortar bowl and the pestle is Oak, which is hard enough to withstand even hard peppercorns. Crush your spices and dried herbs to give your favorite recipes the flavor they deserve.
This bowl is approx. 5-1/4" in diameter and 2-1/4” in height. The oak base (where you crush you spices) is approx. 3".The pestle is approx. 6" long.The wood pieces are glued together using an FDA approved, high strength glue. Once both pieces have set, they are then turned and shaped with a lathe and sanded to a very smooth finish with a ultra fine grit sandpaper. Lastly, 3 coats of mineral oil are applied to protect the wood but it also brings out the beautiful, natural rich colors in each type of wood.
